Summary: HB 2544 prohibits a municipality from levying or assessing a municipal-wide tax or fee not currently provided for in statute against property owners based on the parcel or on the size or value of the owner's real property or improvements to real property in order to fund a municipal service.

03/07/13: HB 2544 passed COW with an amendment that limits the prohibition on non-voter approved taxes or fees to municipal wide fees or taxes based on the size or value of the property. The bill then passed the House with a vote of 35 ayes, 23 nays, and 2 not voting.
