HB 2069

House Bill (HB) 2069: ASRS; political subdivision entities

Sponsor: Representative Ugenti

Overview: HB 2069 precludes future employees of political subdivision entities (PSEs) from joining the Arizona State Retirement System (ASRS).

League Position: OPPOSE - The League opposes the bill because PSEs solely serve government and government purposes and preventing future employees from joining or remaining in ASRS will hurt the recruitment of quality staff.

Summary: HB 2069 prohibits future employees of PSEs from ASRS. Municipalities are served by a number of PSEs, including the League of Arizona Cities and Towns, the Arizona Municipal Water Users Association and various regional councils of governments.
