The attached information regarding the city-specific
allocations for HUD formula grant programs in the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act comes from the National League of Cities and from the HUD
website: www.hud.gov/recovery. The total for Arizona is around $153.3 million.
Much of this portion of the economic stimulus money appears to be in addition to the funds for some similar programs that is being distributed through
the state government. Some of these funds are directed to specific local governments in Arizona by using existing formulas such as CDBG, Housing
Assistance, Homelessness Prevention, Rental Assistance, etc. Others, such as nonentitlement funds generally go through COGs for distribution.
NLC reports that they are awaiting official guidance from HUD on how the funds can be accessed, which may be released as early as today. As we
receive more information we will pass it along.
